Delta Air Lines CEO says 90% of employees are vaccinated against Covid without company mandate

Delta Air Strains explained Wednesday 90% of its workforce of about 80,000 people have been vaccinated towards Covid-19, months before the firm imposes a $200 every month insurance surcharge on staff members who haven’t gotten pictures.

The Atlanta-centered airline’s CEO Ed Bastian before this month explained about 85% of its personnel was vaccinated.

On Wednesday, Bastian explained he predicted that price to increase to about 95% by early November.

The most current tally, disclosed in its quarterly earnings launch, will come as airlines are grappling with the Biden administration’s policies that federal contractors’ workforce should be vaccinated versus Covid, except they can show a legitimate spiritual or professional medical cause to be exempt.

American Airways, Southwest Airways, JetBlue Airways and Alaska Airlines, which like Delta are federal contractors because they fly government staff members and provide other solutions, in new weeks have instructed team they will comply with the mandate and that workers want to be vaccinated to go on working there, until they obtain an exemption. Delta’s Bastian explained its individual system is functioning.
