Even with a team-document 17-recreation winning streak that carried them to a wild-card berth, Mike Shildt is out as manager of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Cardinals president of baseball functions John Mozeliak introduced the transfer Thursday, citing “philosophical variations.”
Shildt experienced guided the Cardinals to the playoffs a few moments, which includes in 2021, when they rode their September profitable streak to a 90-72 end. St. Louis misplaced to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Wild Card Sport.
The 53-yr-previous Shildt experienced been signed through 2022 soon after achieving a 3-year agreement extension pursuing the 2019 period.
Shildt was 252-199 in 3-furthermore seasons with St. Louis. He led the Cardinals to the Countrywide League Central title in 2019, but they ended up swept in the NL Championship Collection by the Washington Nationals. His staff also misplaced a wild-card collection to the San Diego Padres in 2020.
